What are dry eyes?
Dry Eyes affect millions of individuals each year. It is estimated that 30% of Canadians have dry eyes, and this number is growing. IPL Treatments
Intense Pulse Light
Dr Gallo and Associates offer the latest technology in treating Dry Eye Disease. Our Team of doctors can diagnose, treat and manage your Dry Eye Disease.

What is IPL, and how does it work?
Intense-Pulse Light (IPL) technology has been used for over 25 years to treat various skin and inflammatory issues.
It works by delivering light energy into the skin at different wavelengths, targeting the root cause of ocular inflammation. The DARWIN IPL™ by LUVO has multiple proprietary features that make it especially safe and comfortable for you. The square wave pulse ensures predictable energy delivery with no energy spikes, and the advanced cooling technology ensures a comfortable procedure for you.
What to expect before and during treatment:
Before treatment, your skin will be cleaned and pre-treated with a cooling gel and googles or eye pads will be applied to ensure eye safety. Light energy will then be delivered to the skin through a series of brief pulses. The pulses will be delivered from your nose to the temple. During the procedure, you will see a bright light and may experience a snapping sensation & warming, both of which are typically very well tolerated.
What to expect following treatment:
Immediately following treatment, your skin may appear slightly red and mildly swollen. This typically lasts only a few hours. Daily activities can be resumed immediately, including applying makeup in most cases. You will need to stay out of direct sunlight for the week following the treatment and are advised to apply sunscreen to the treated area. In the weeks following the treatment, you may also notice improved tone, texture, and a reduction in fine lines in the treated area.

Radio Frequency

What is RF Technology?
RF, also called radiofrequency therapy, is a nonsurgical method of rejuvenating your skin. It involves using energy waves to heat the deep layers of your skin, known as the dermis.
Heat is delivered to the targetted area using RF energy. The energy tightens existing collagen and stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, helping to rejuvenate the periorbital area. The application of heat also stimulates the glands in the periorbital region and helps to liquefy the oils in clogged glands, helping to improve the eye's overall health.
What to expect following treatment:
RF treatments are typically very well tolerated with little to no discomfort and no downtime. You may experience mild swelling and redness of the treated skin that usually resolves within 24 hrs. Skin tightening might be noticeable immediately post-procedure, but optimal results from collagen rebuilding can take 3-6 months. A series of treatments may be needed for best results.
